Plataformas de datos, centros de datos, datos abiertos

W ramach projektu Cross-Forest powstaje wspólna platforma dla otwartych danych o lasach i transgraniczny model danych (ontologia) dla Portugalii i Hiszpanii, której celem jest udostępnianie danych z inwentaryzacji lasów, map i innych informacji o lasach w formacie wzajemnie powiązanych, otwartych danych (LOD). Rezultatem projektu jest publiczne repozytorium (punkt końcowy), w którym publikowane będą dane o lasach zgodnie z opracowanym modelem, tak aby zapewnić ich ciagłą dostepnosć i aktualność. Ułatwi to korzystanie z danych dotyczących lasów wszystkim zainteresowanym podmiotom zajmującym się leśnictwem i badaniami naukowymi. 

Opracowywane są także dwa przykłady specyficznego zastosowania powstającego repozytorium:

• CAMBRIC - modelowanie ewolucji lasu i jakości drewna w różnych scenariuszach prowadzenia gospodarki leśnej. 
• FRAME - prognozowanie zachowania i rozprzestrzeniania się pożarów lasów na podstawie dokładnych informacji o materiałach palnych, mapach lasów i modelach rozprzestrzeniania się ognia. 

Przy rozwijaniu przykładowych zastosowań wykorzystywane są wysokowydajne technologie obliczeniowe (HPC) ze względu na ilość generowanych danych podlegających przetwarzaniu, a także złożoność zastosowanych modeli. Z kolei format wzajemnie powiązanych, otwartych danych (LOD) został wybrany ze względu na to, że pozwala on użytkownikom na swobodny dostęp do aktualnych danych i zarządzanie nimi w celu opracowania narzędzi dostosowanych do ich potrzeb i celów. Publikacja danych w formacie LOD umożliwia także władzom publicznym łatwe spełnienie wymogów przejrzystości i jawności, optymalizację wykorzystania zasobów i prowadzenie kontroli statystycznej nad wykorzystaniem publicznie dostępnych danych.

Cross-Forest розробляє спільну платформу для відкритих даних про ліси і транскордонну модель даних (онтологію) для Португалії та Іспанії для публікації даних інвентаризації лісів, карт та інших баз даних про ліси у форматі пов’язаних відкритих даних (LOD). Cross-Forest створить публічний репозиторій (кінцеву точку) для публікації лісових даних відповідно до розробленої моделі. Основна мета полягає в тому, щоб інформація про ліси завжди була доступна й актуальна, що сприятиме її використанню усіма зацікавленими сторонами, дотичними до ведення лісового господарства і наукових досліджень.
Розробляються два варіанти застосування:
CAMBRIC – моделювання еволюції лісів і якості деревини за різних сценаріїв лісоуправління.
FRAME – прогнозування поведінки та поширення лісових пожеж на основі точної інформації про горючі матеріали, карт лісів і моделей поширення.
Ресурси високопродуктивних обчислень (HPC) використовуються через об’єм даних, які генеруються і потребують опрацювання, а також через складність моделей.
Отримані наразі результати свідчать про корисність та універсальність технології LOD, оскільки вона дозволяє користувачам вільно отримувати доступ до оновлених даних і керувати ними для розробки інструментів, адаптованих до їхніх потреб і цілей. Публікація даних у форматі LOD дозволяє державним адміністраціям з легкістю виконувати вимоги щодо прозорості і публічності, оптимізувати ресурси і здійснювати статистичний контроль за використанням загальнодоступних даних. 

ForestHQ facilita la gestión de las operaciones y procesos forestales. Esta plataforma añade valor a los datos y mejora el acceso y el intercambio de información. ForestHQ incluye diferentes módulos clave:

• Inventario forestal, valoración y MRV de carbono. Este módulo incluye aplicaciones móviles para la recogida de datos sobre el terreno, modelos y análisis para cuantificar los productos madereros y el carbono.
  • Medición rápida con la aplicación Arboreal (iOS) o con herramientas de medición tradicionales.
  • Análisis sencillos y automatizados, estimación del carbono y valoración de los montes.
  • Cartografía online de los inventarios con mediciones basadas en la ubicación.
  • Informes online que incluyen, desglose de productos madereros, mapas digitales e informes de valoración
  • Compatible con el producto online ForestBidder
• Supervisión remota del aprovechamiento.  Este módulo incluye una conexión con las máquinas procesadoras para la supervisión remota de las operaciones del aprovechamiento. Esta herramienta aumenta el control de las operaciones y reduce significativamente los costes y las visitas al campo. 
  •  Gestión de los contratistas del aprovechamiento
  •  Seguimiento del progreso del aprovechamiento de forma remota
  •  Supervisión del rendimiento de la optimización de los productos de los troncos
  •  Ubicación de los productos de la cosechadora y de los troncos para obtener información granular y mapas visuales
  • Aplicación HarvestSync (android) para la recogida de datos a bordo con sincronización automática
• Gestión de parcelas. ForestHQ facilita la gestión de sus propiedades y actividades forestales. Se trata de una plataforma de colaboración que facilita la visibilidad de los datos y la comunicación.
  • Gestionar las propiedades forestales y la base de datos de clientes
  • Cartografiar online los subcompartimientos forestales con facilidad
  • Planificar y gestionar las operaciones y actividades forestales
  • Gestión y seguimiento de documentos, licencias de corta, permisos y subvenciones

Otros módulos incluirán herramientas para la certificación forestal, proyectos de secuestro de carbono y planes de gestión forestal.

ForestHQ se puede personalizar y adaptar a las diferentes necesidades de los usuarios, con interfaces de usuario sencillas es una solución ideal para los propietarios de montes, asociaciones pequeñas y grandes.

Mobile app Ukrainian Forest Protection for smartphones based on Android OS.

The app uses mobile devices for collection of data about pests and diseases. It has several levels of use:

• at first forestry specialists collect data about discovered cases
• this data is synchronized at all mobile devices of the enterprise and enters the database of "Forests of Ukraine" Geoportal
• furthermore, other forest specialists can review the information about the pest and disease cases, discovered in the forest enterprise
• if needed, the damaged area can be found in the field using the built-in GPS receiver, then verified or deleted. 

For the diagnostics of the damaged area, the built-in digital handbook can be used, which includes information about all pests and diseases found in the forests of Ukraine, structured with the visual materials, data on diagnostic features and protection/management measures.

After introduction of any of changes in the app, all the information become accessible at the "Forests of Ukraine" Geoportal, which allows to:

• print out reports for the enterprise level and regional level,
• review of identified and verified cases on the map,
• see the dynamics by pest and disease types, by the time,
• define and identify the location, distribution features and development of pathological processes in the forests of Ukraine.

Мобільний додаток Лісозахист для смартфонів на базі операційної системи Android.

Даний додаток передбачає використання мобільних пристроїв для збору інформації в лісі про появу шкідників або хвороб та має декілька рівнів можливостей: на першому етапі майстри лісу збирають дані про виявлені явища, ця інформація синхронізуються на всіх мобільних пристроях підприємства та потрапляє в базу Геопорталу "Ліси України". Далі фахівці підприємства (помічники лісничих, лісничі, інженери) мають змогу переглядати інформацію про виявлені осередки в усьому лісгоспі. За необхідності, можна знайти осередок на місцевості за допомогою вбудованого у смартфон GPS-приймача, підтвердити його або видалити.

Для діагностики осередку можна скористатися вбудованим електронним визначником, де зібрана інформація про всі хвороби та шкідники, притаманні лісам України. Визначник структурований, складається з наочних матеріалів і даних про діагностичні ознаки та заходи боротьби.

Після виконання будь-яких змін в додатку, вся інформація буде доступна на Геопорталі «Ліси України», де було розроблено декілька сторінок націлених на роботу з електронною базою осередків, а саме:

• друк звітності підприємств та ОУЛМГ,
• перегляд виявлених та підтверджених осередків на карті,
• відображення динаміки осередків в розрізі видів шкідників та хвороб, місяців,
• виявлення та визначення локації осередків, закономірностей поширення та розвитку патологічних процесів у лісах України.

Project activities were focused on a comprehensive representation of changes in forest stands and their dynamics (using different time series of remote sensing data) and the transition from spot monitoring (field measurements on sample plots) to large-scale monitoring. This will improve the efficiency of forest ecosystem protection and management measures. Project results have been presented in the form of publications and maps showing specific changes over the years. In addition, radio and television broadcasts, meetings, brochures and promotional films were used to inform the general public.

The main objectives of the project were:

• Monitoring of stand dynamics in Białowieża Forest (including analysis of tree species composition, monitoring of changes in the forest stand caused, among others, by tree death)
• Analysis of natural forest regeneration and rejuvenation, including the role of gaps,
• Establishment/determination of the combination of different remote sensing techniques and data sets that are optimal for forest monitoring,
• Characteristics of the microclimate of the Białowieża Forest,
• Promotion of Białowieża Forest through the use of multimedia.

The main expected results of the project:

• Detailed analysis and maps showing in subsequent years, following information about the Białowieża Forest: Forest stand characteristics (growing stock and biomass, tree height, DBH, canopy cover and its diversity, forest diversity, tree species composition, vertical structure, biomass, etc.), location and size of dead trees, location and size of gaps, dynamics of natural forest regeneration and amount of lying dead wood.
• Map of plant communities with identification of different tree species;
• Development of monitoring methods for the dynamics of the Białowieża Forest using a small number of sample plots and additional remote sensing data covering the entire study area;
• Master tree ring chronology of the selected tree species in the Białowieża Forest;
• A unique geoportal containing created spatial data on the Białowieża Forest.

Polter können in WASP abgebildet und alle relevanten Daten schnell und unkompliziert an die weiteren Akteure in der Supply Chain weitergegeben werden. Hierzu stehen mehrere Wege zur Verfügung: Direkte Eingabe über die benutzerfreundliche Weboberfläche von WASP, mobile Poltererfassung vor Ort mittels der App WASP Woodscout für Smartphones und Tablets oder, wenn Polter bereits mit einer dafür vorgesehenen Software erfasst sind, durch Importschnittstellen. Je nach Art des Polters (Rund- oder Energieholz) und der üblichen Lieferbedingungen entscheidet sich die weitere Vorgehensweise. So können die Polter direkt an das entsprechende Werk übergeben oder aber vordisponiert werden, d.h. die Spedition für den Holztransport wird ausgewählt. Dabei stehen viele Validierungsalgorithmen zur Unterstütztung zur Verfügung: Wenn z.B. ein Polter Holz enthält, welches aufgrund seiner Länge von keinem Fahrzeug des Spediteurs gefahren werden kann, warnt eine entsprechende Meldung am Bildschirm. Wenn ein Polter beispielsweise an ein Werk übergeben wurde, erfolgt eine automatische Benachrichtigung, sobald dieser abgefahren wurde. Wenn das Holz selbst zum Werk transportiert wird, können die Speditionsrolle in WASP übernommen und die Vorteile der Auftragsverwaltung und der manuellen bzw. vom Optimierungsmodul unterstützten Disposition genutzt werden.

ForestHQ facilitates the management of forest operations and processes. This platform adds value to the data and improves the access and sharing of information. ForestHQ  includes different key modules:

• Forest inventory, valuation, and carbon MRV. This module includes mobile apps for field data collection, models, and analytics to quantify timber products and carbon. 
  • Rapid measurement with the Arboreal app (iOS) or traditional measurement tools.
  • Simple and automated analytics, carbon estimation, and forest valuation
  • Online mapping of inventories with location-based metrics
  • Online reporting including, timber product breakdown, digital maps, and valuation reports
  • Compatible with ForestBidder Online Marketplace
• Remote harvesting monitoring.  This module includes a connection with harvester machines for remote monitoring of the harvesting operations. This tool increases the control of the operations and significantly reduces costs and field visits.  
  •  Manage harvesting contractors
  •  Track harvest progress remotely
  •  Monitor log product optimisation performance
  •  Harvester products and stem locations for granular information and visual maps
  •  HarvestSync App (android) for onboard data collection with auto-syncing
• Land management. ForestHQ makes it easy to manage your forest properties and activities. This is a collaborative platform that facilities the visibility of data and communications.
  • Manage forest properties and client database
  • Easily map forest sub-compartments online

  • Manage and track documents, felling licenses, permits, and grants
  • Assign and share documents and tasks

Further modules will include tools for forest certification, carbon sequestration projects, and forest management plans. 

ForestHQ can be customised and adapted to the different user needs, with simple user interfaces it is an ideal solution for forest owners, small and large organisations

The LasInfo system is a comprehensive product consisting of several interlinked applications. It is targeted at national parks, municipal and communal forests and experimental forestry units. It provides support for forest land management and monitoring of timber harvest and sales, as well as for the implementation of tasks specified in the protection plan and nature monitoring.

The solution consists of four basic modules: the central database, the LasInfo Client application, the GIS application and the Forester’s Electronic Logbook. This allows for coordinated management of elements such as nature conservation, forest management, spatial data and cadastral data. It is possible to tailor the solution to individual users by implementing only some or all elements of the system. The shared database in turn eliminates the problem of incompatibility between different systems and data formats.

Components of the LasInfo system:

• Software: centralized database, LasInfo application, LasInfo Timber Trade application, Digital Map, Nature Monitoring, Mobile GIS.
• Devices/infrastructure: server (local or "in the cloud"), network and VPN devices, mobile devices.

Functionalities of the Lasinfo system:

• property records: cadastral records, forest inventory data;
• planning (protection tasks) system: stock surveys, creation of planning items, handling of invitations to tender, register of execution (work orders, work acceptance);
• timber sales: documentation on incoming and outgoing timber, timber contracts, timber stock, forester's logbook;
• Forest protection and silviculture documents: dead wood inventory, fire registry, regeneration assessment report, natural regeneration assessment report;
• reporting of: planned works, timber sales, work orders/executions;
• numerical map: the Digital Forest Map standard, the GIS data standard in nature conservation, nature monitoring, map reporting, mobile GIS.

The system has been rolled out in 11 Polish national parks; moreover, among the LasInfo users are forestry experimental units (Murowana Goślina, Siemianice, Rogów, Krynica-Zdrój), municipal and communal forest managers and maritime offices managing forest areas.
