Résumé

The mobile application Invazivke is free to use and is intended for the general public. To use the application, one must register using a valid email address. It is designed for field data collection with a smart device that includes a GPS sensor and a digital camera. This allows user to automatically capture the location (exact X and Y coordinates) and photo with the device, which greatly facilitates and speeds up data entry. The user manually selects of the species from the drop-down menu. The application also includes a manual with a description of invasive alien species (IAS), including pictorial material to facilitate the identification of the found organism. The mobile application Invazivke enables the recording of IAS finds without an internet connection. The exchange of data with the central server takes place at the request of the user when connected to the Internet and is carried out according to the synchronization process.

woodpassage - from tree to house!
An installation consisting of four wooden gates makes the transformation from tree to house a sensual experience. It tells the story of the contribution of modern timber construction to climate- and resource-friendly cities of the future.
The tree grows in the forest - the tree becomes wood - the wood becomes the house. With simple pictogrammatic signs in forty steps, slice by slice cut out of large blocks of wood, the "wood passage" conveys the transformation from tree to house. When walking through the archways, each with their imposing size of 4.3 by 4.3 metres, the special materiality of wood can be experienced. At the same time, the walk-in installation is a playful mouthpiece for the ecological advantages of building with wood.
13 cubic metres of wood are used in the installation. This amount grows back in Austria's forests in 13 seconds. 13 tonnes of CO2 are permanently bound in the wood of the four gates. This is equivalent to the pollutant emissions of a passenger car in 8 years.
Wood is constantly growing back in the forest and is available. 30 million cubic metres of wood are produced in Austria's forests every year, only about 26 million cubic metres of which are harvested. The rest remains in the forest and steadily increases the wood supply.
40 percent of all resources consumed go into the construction sector, and globally this sector is also responsible for 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Wood replaces building materials from finite resources. Houses made of wood bind CO2 in the long term and thus are gentle on the climate. The increased use of wood in construction is creating a second forest in our cities.

Résumé

Marketing campaign, demand promotion for Swiss Wood through targeted advertising measures (lifelike wooden figures of famous Swiss people, TV-Spots, billboards, documentary film, press releases and events throughout Switzerland). Point out the importance and the economic, ecological and social value of sustainable Swiss forest management. Presenting the diversity of forest-based industries, products and other services for society to the population. Demand enhancement for Swiss Wood and Swiss Wood products. Better impression of the different services provided by the Swiss forest management to the public. Raise awareness for the importance of a sustainable forest management and eligible silvicultural measures in Swiss forests. Making visible the different benefits for society (ex. climate change, CO2-mitigation, provision of drinkable water, protection against natural risks). Addressing the broad population and point out their importance in the context of the Swiss Wood mobilization with the link to the benefits of a sustainable forest management is an important issue to improve the wood mobilization in long-term and foresting the wood value-chain.

Résumé

In KomSilva, tools for a goal-oriented and efficient discourse with forest owners are being developed. Target groups are stakeholders and organizations who activate and address forest owners. Mostly forestry associations should profit from the project, but also service providers and other stakeholders. Communication with forest owners is a key asset towards mobilization. Existing instruments are being adjusted and new tools like online-training, online-consulting concepts and social media strategies for consulting and communication are being created and already successfully tested.

Existing instruments for approaching forest owners and communicate with them are being investigated and evaluated according to their effectiveness. Thereby, a collaborative approach is being pursued. It comprises an advisory committee with experts from practice and an active involvement via interviews, a large-scale online-survey and workshops. Experiences in activating forest owners and in public relations are being collected and practicable factors of success are being identified. Arguments for the activation of forest owners are being developed to sensitize forestry associations also for the new task fields.

Promotion campaign for boosting the wood image as a material for improved life quality.
Résumé

Wood is first is a promotion campaign initiated by Croatian Chamber of Commerce, implemented with Ministry of Agriculture, Directorate for forestry, hunting and wood processing industry and Croatian Forests Ltd. Campaign was initiated in 2007 with the aim to raise awareness about wood as renewable material, promote and increase use of wood and increase competitiveness of wood processing industry in Croatia. Activities included promotion on fairs and calls for designers and architects to submit their design of wood products (furniture and other equipment).

Campaign had good results and attitude towards wood in everyday use is positively changed through press conferences, database of wood products producers (furniture, woody biomass, wood for construction, other) establishment, catalogue of wood processing companies and their products, info booklet about socially responsible public procurement (emphasis is on using wood products, green public procurement, certification of wood products), info booklet about public procurement of wood products, info booklet about wood pellets
